Introduction
Introduction to the course, i am feeling excited about commencing my project as i have had the idea i which to produce in my head for a few years now. A parady of "Tribe".
I have always had a fascination with other cultures and cultural history, whether this has anything to do with coming from a mixed cultural background or the luck that enabled me to visit many places in my childhood years, I do not know but it is here to stay and I am looking forward to engaging with different cultures and adventuring when I finish my degree.
I would often sit and watch anthropological films with my grandfather, on completely different ways of life to my own and throughout my teenage years was immersed in programs by David Attenborough, Micheal Palin and most recently Bruce Parry. It was Bruce Parry’s approach that really gripped me, his way of living with the tribe, though critically still with a vast support tram tucked away in case of emergency. Bruce brought understanding and awareness on how the effects of globalization and the expanding culture of westerness affected a way of life that had remained unchanged for thousands of years and then, not even gradually been subjected to sudden change. For example a tribe in the amazon that suddenly has a couple of guys in hard hats with chainsaws suddenly appear in their village demanding they move within 48 hours as the land has been sold to them….
Bruce Parry, regardless of Criticism has been given has been a major inspiration for this film, I plan to parody his series to an analysis of student culture.
I came to university with this idea, and now after a summer of planning, the pledged support of my friends and a brand new panasonice SD9000 the idea would become a reality.

Background
Half my Background, my cultural heritage is from Muenchen in upper Bavaria. Although obviously distinctly western it differs a lot from the rest of Germany and my country of Birth, England in customs, mentality and approach to life.
Bavaria even differentiates itself from the rest of Germany proudly declaring itself a “Frei Staat”, a semi autonomous state. It has a distinctive cultural history, architecture, cuisine, language and even its own micro climate “Der Foehn” which is unique to the alpine region.
Having been to Munich over 50 times in 24 years I developed a strong sense of pride and interest in the culture.
The Other half of my cultural background is from the welsh marches in Herefordshire, Hereford is exposed to a strange mix of micro cultures. The language is english, though the dialect is more of a west country accent even though it is technically classed as the west midlands. And there is a great deal of Welsh influence.
The village i grew up in Ewyas Harold was a mere meters away from the welsh border and had my house been situated a little bit more east, I would have been pronouncing my “L” a little bit more harshly (“Ll “this and “Ll” that!). Though part of the greater United Kingdom culture there are many areas which make it distinctive. Cider processions through the village where I was a young boy I was told they were off to burn someone at the stake. A rich anglo welsh history and festivals give the Welsh Marches its own Microculture. This feeling of cultural identity and a mox of backgrounds definitively gave me an interest in Anthropology and Culture
